ERO Resources
•
I. SOIL A~~-•ENT
10. INTNODLI[_:T ION
A supplemental soil survey was conduoted on and adjacetrt to the 8 Portal
area in the south half of Section 4, Township 2N, Range lO1N. F uld work
was conducted in June, 1981 on approximately 250 acres. This survey
provides mor• detailed mapping, sampling and description of soils on a
small portion of the entire permit area. This baseline information
provides the necessary data to formulate a sound program of topsoil
removal, replacement and revegetation in the vicinity of the B Portal.
The supplemental soil survey is intended to augment the data base
generated for the larger permit area. The objectives, general
desoriptiona and methods used are identical to those found in the Soil
Assessment, Section II.I of the Mine Permit Application. The reader
should refer to Section II.I for detailed information on the scopes of
work. The results are reported in a similar manner to the previous soil
• survey but are site-specific to the B Portal area. Applicable soil series
and mapping units of the Soil Assessment have been extracted and included
in this report for convenience.
•
One new soil series, the Boettcher series, was found in the B Portal
area. This soil series and associated mapping unit were not included in
the original soil assessment since it comprised a minor inclusion in the
larger mapping units previously assigned to the area.
II.I-1
