6-11-1999 11:27AM FROM ADCO/BAY'ER/CHEROKEE 303 452 d515 P.3
• •
6. As we discussed in the field on June 1, 1999 this will be a phased operation with
the maximum disturbance being while the last half of Phase 2 (25± aces) is being
reclaimed and the first half of Phase 3 (40f acres) is being mined. At no other
time during the entire operation will there be even close to this amount of
disturbance. We will add the above clarification to the text in Exhibit D -Mining
Plan, where appropriate, and I will calculate the bond amount based on the total
acreage of both phases (132 acres) needing total reclamation, which should be
more than enough to cover any eventuality.
7. In response the Allen Sorenson's comments in his 05/15/99 memo, CAMAS
agrees to revise the maps, text, reclamation, etc. costs as follows:
(A) The Regulated Construction Option for bonding will be utilized in Exhibit
L -Reclamation Costs with the 20% bonding option. At the end of this fax
is one proposal CAMAS has received to date, which is considerably less
than the $4.00/sq.ft. the DMG has asked us to utilize for reclamation cost
purposes. CAMAS is solidting further proposals, but for reclamation cost
purposes, CAMAS would propose to utilize a figure of $3.00/sq.ft. and
utilize the 20%. At such time as CAMAS actually selects a contractor,
DMG personnel will be consulted further on the format and details of the
quality assuranceJquality control plan.
(B) An affirmative statement will be made in Exhibit D -Mining Plan, that the
reservoir is being condemned by the City of Thornton to water storage as
the proposed source of water to fill the reservoir.
(C) The 35' depth and $3.00/sq. ft. will be utilized for bonding costs in Exhibit
L -Reclamation Costs. If CAMAS hasn't received permission from PSCo.
to install the slum> wall across PSCo.'s right-of-~vay before the permit is
ready for issuance, then 20,055' length will be utilized for bond
calculations. If PSCo.'s permission is obtained, then 14,168' length will
be utilized for bond calculations. In the first case, the 20% performance
bond required for the slurry wall construction will be $42I,I55; in the
second case, the 20% performance bond required for the slurry wall
construction will be $297,528.
3
