Revised 11/85
• 2.04.6 Geology Description
The general geology of the additional area as described in this permit
revision does not change appreciable to that which is described in the
Bear Coal Company Permit. The Geologic Cross Section Map (Map 7) has
been updated with the addition of drill hole SOM No. 12. The cross
section now encompasses the entire permit area. The logs of drill hole
No. 12, No. 12A, and No. 12B can be found in Attachment 4 (only Drill
Hole No. 12 is plotted on the Geologic Cross Section Map (Map 7)). As
can be seen on the Geologic Cross Section Map (Map 7), the coal of Seams
B, C, E, and F are all burned once they reach drill hole no. 12. The
Mine Plan Map (Map 9) shows that the limit of mining is also at drill
hole no. 12.
Underground Mining
The geology of the additional area does not change appreciable to that
• which is described in the Bear Coal Permit. The Regional Geology Map
(Map 5) has been updated and extended to cover the revised permit area
as has the Geology/Hydrology Map (Map 6).
Two (2) maps have been included in the permit revision to comply with
the Bureau of Land Management Regulations (R2P2) under CFR 30, Sub-part
3482, "Exploration and Resource Recovery and Protection Plans". These
maps are the Overburden Isopach Map (Map 10) and the "C" Seam Isopach
Map (Map 11). These two (2) maps are considered proprietary and are,
therefore, stamped "confidential".
2.04.7 Hydrology Information
rr„~~~~Wa+or
No water is present in the abandoned workings of the old Edwards Mine.
• The canyon walls along the North Fork of the Gunnison River have
intersected various coal seams and sandstone beds.
