Revised 11/85
• 2.03.4 Identification of Interests
The Bear Coal Company has revised the Surface Ownership Map (Map 1) to
show that Grand Mesa Properties is now the surface owner of land that
was once owned by Marion D, Sell. In addition to this revision, the
current land owners adjoining the proposed permit revision have been
included on the map.
2.03.6 Right of Entry
Bear Coal Company has also had discussions with Grand Mesa Properties
and has received right-of-entry documentation from them. This will
enable Bear Coal Company to access their property for purposes of
monitoring, if monitoring is required. This may include surface
subsidence monitoring and any hydrological monitoring. The
right-of-entry document is included in Exhibit 1 of the Bear No. 3
Permit.

2.04.4 Cultural and Historical Resource Information
Bear Coal Company has requested a file search with the Colorado
Historical Society to determine if there are any documented cultural or
historical resources in the project area. The results of the file
search are found in Exhibit 7 of the Bear No. 3 Permit. One (1) site,
SGN1560 (the town of Somerset, Colorado), has been listed as eligible on
the National Register of Historic Places. Upon consultation with the
Colorado Historical Society, it was determined that none of the
buildings that existed previously at the Bear Coal Company are covered
by this eligibility status.
An archaeological survey was also conducted by ARCO for the Mt. Gunnison
Mine. This survey is included as Exhibit 7 of the Bear No. 3 Permit.
• Due to the steepness of the existing topography, there are no known
man-made structures other than an old drill road within the permit
boundary. From all surveys conducted in the area, no cultural or
historical resources exist in this steep terrain.
-7-
