Mapping Unit 23A
• Gapo clay loam
•
•
This series occupies deep, poorly drained soil on nearly level and
gently sloping valley floors. It formed in mixed fine textured allu-
vium. Distribution of this series is found along Foidel Creek from the
head of Eckman Park northward. The native vegetation consists almost
entirely of grasses.
Included in this unit are Unnamed (69) loam and Venable loam (52A).
Typically the surface layer is dark gray clay loam. The underlying
material is stratified clay ranging in color from light gray to dark
grayish brown extending to 60 inches or more.
Permeability is very slow. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or
more. Available water capacity is moderate. Surface runoff is slow,
and erosion hazard is low from water.
-~-
