Mapping Units 10E, lOF <br />• Bulkley silty clay loam <br />These mapping units occupy moderately steep upland areas throughout the <br />survey area. It is an extensive unit. Mapped areas are about 20 to 60 <br />acres in size. The soils overlie Mancos or Lewis shale at depths below <br />40 inches. This area is very similar to the Binco (C10) series. This <br />unit is like the profile described for the series. The predominate <br />native vegetation is sagebrush. <br />Less than five percent of this unit is Abor silty clay (4E). The areas <br />are too small to map separately. <br />This well drained soil is slowly permeable, and has very rapid surface <br />• runoff. Rilling occurs during spring snow melt. It has a high water <br />holding capacity but gives up water slowly to plants. When the soil <br />dries, wide deep cracks tend to form. Some piping can and does occur. <br /> <br />-6- <br />
