Mapping Units 66D and 66F
• Skylick loam
This is a deep, well-drained soil on gently sloping to moderately steep
mountain benches and sideslopes and is located only to the south of the
old spoils at Mine 1 and on the north side of Pinnacle Peak. The
dominate native vegetation growing on these two sites is aspen and oak
brush.
Included in this unit are small areas of Coutis fine sandy loam (34E)
and Routt loam (2VD).
Typically the surface layer is dark grayish brown loam about 24 inches
thick. The subsurface layer is brown light clay loam about 14 inches
• thick. The subsoil is brown and yellowish brown light clay loam ex-
tending to 60 inches or more.
Permeability is moderately slow. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches
or more. Available water capacity is high. Surface runoff is slow to
medium, erosion hazard is high from water.

-13-
