(d) Once stockpiled the topsoil will be rehandled
as little as possible.
(e) Necessary measures will be taken to assure the
stability of replaced topsoil on graded slopes.
(f) Soil test will be taken of topsoil before
postmining placement to determine quality.
(g) When topsoil is replaced it will be done in
as even a manner as possible. Fertilizer or other soil amendments
shall be added, if required, as soil tests indicate.
6.5 Revegetation
(a) All revegetation will be accomplished in a
manner that will establish a diverse, effective, and long-lasting
vegetative cover utilizing available native species.
(b) Choice of reclamation "forest". The forest
is pinyon/juniper and oak brush (see SCS report Exhibit J)but
mainly oak brush. The pinyon/juniper are very sparse. For this
reason, and also the difficulty of obtaining pinyon/juniper seedlings,
oak brush will be utilized.
(c) No grazing of domestic animals is allowed in
this area. Reclamation will be directed toward wildlife habitat.
(d) The revegetation plan will provide for the
greatest probability of success in plant establishment and
vegetation development by considering environmental factors such as
seasonal patterns of precipitation, temperature and wind; soil
texture and fertility; slope stability; and direction of slope
faces. Similar attention shall be given to biological factors
such as proper innoculation of legume seed, appropriate seeding and
transplanting pactices, care of forest planting stock.
-3-
