MINING °LAN
determined, as is the existence or need for a batch plant. This feature is
mentioned now, however, to provide some indication of this action occurring. At
the time that such a need should arise, more detail will be provided. The
location of the plant cannot be determined at this time, but it would undoubtedly
be somewhere in the northern portion of the permit or possibly on adjacent land
which might need to be added to the permit as an amendment.
TOPSOIL SALVAGE: Salvage of topsoil will be done by either dozer or by scraper.
Salvage depths will follow the recommendations included in the soil information
exhibit included in this permit. In summary, those recommendations were:
1. Salvage all soils, where soil exists, to a depth of 10" to 12"
2. Reduce soil stockpiling to a minimum so as to reduce degradation of the
soil in storage. That is, whenever possible, replace the soil on regraded
land immediately after removal.
• 3. When stockpiling is performed, the stockpiles will be seeded with a
rapidly growing mixture of grasses similar to those used in the final
revegetation program.
It is important to note the mining plan map shows the locations of proposed
stockpiles Sn Phases I through III. Unfortunately, the lay of the gravel in
Phases IV and V is so varied, it is not possible to show even proposed locations
of stockpiles. This is because it is not known exactly how these scattered and
highly separated bits and pieces would be operated or where access roads would be
located. Many of these areas are so small as mining units, stockpiling of soil
for more than a month or two would probably not be necessary as the soil would be
replaced on top of the area where the gravel was removed shortly after mining. As
a result, on the south end of the operation, an indication of the soil stockpile
locations is not provided.
page 5 of 10 Exhibit D
