Colorado's Energy and Mineral Assistance <br />Program, which is administered by the Department of Local Affairs, ' <br />awarded $6,027,963 last year in matching assistance grants to <br />numerous capital and maintenance projects throughout Mesa County. <br />Dollars awarded under energy grants are based on the amount natural <br />resource development within their respective counties. 1 would <br />strongly urge the Bureau of Land Management, when writing Red <br />Cliff s environmental impact statement, to consider how many dollars <br />are returned to our county through useful energy impact grants. <br />Some of the projects funded last year by the Energy and Mineral ' <br />Assistance Program included upgrades in hardware and software for <br />our county's EMS system, restoration of the old Riverside School <br />(which houses the innovative dual language immersion program), and <br />the replacement of leaky roofs on the old Department of Energy <br />building in Grand Junction. <br />Once again, 1 ur a the Bureau of Land Management to include the <br />economic be it~'(/` h~Colorado mine in the EIS. <br />Thanks, <br />~o s >ti - ZdT` 5-~--- <br /> <br />
