> JAMES K. MINER, Prcfident
HELEN P. MINER Vice-President

BUILDERS AGGREGATE CO.
FOAT MOAGAN, COLORADO R070I
Page 2
Reclamation Plan

1, Proposed future us of the land x111 be for wildlife
habitat and posaiblp industrial in the far future.
PHONE: 867-6334
2, Synopsis--Reclamation of the mined pit area has been
an ongoing process since operations began in 195l~. Our
operation mines tons of fine Bijou silt and sand that is
used to refill the mining area opened by the dredging
operation. Once the former mined area is filled with such ~~
sand fPom a discharge flume from the screening bins, n
bulldozer is used to level the sand and a two foot layer
of stored overburden (Dirt and Clay), is spread over the
sand, Thia area is then used ae a stockpile area or
reverts back to wildlife habitat with natural riverbottom
flora and vegetation completing the reclamation within
a years tide.
It should also be noted that as Builders Aggregate ~--_
has its operation in a flood plane (South Platte River),
flood raters which have been known to carry 50~ sollde
consisting of sand and silt, fill in any previous or
present mining areas and naturally revert the area to
pre-mining use. These floo~rhappen on nn average once
every thirty yeara,(~e, 1935, 1965), and floods of lesser
magnitude, even a few reeks of abnormally high eater,
refill the mining aroa and revert much of the site to
pre-mining conditions.
3, "Spoil from mining" consist primarily of a washed and
screened fine sand, Thia material may be weed as a
plaster Band or fill material. The mining area contains
90~ of such fines and in such huge quantities may be
considered as "spoils" with little commercial value.
4. The placement of this sand against the Great Western
dikes would be unrenaonable because the washed and
screened sand is transported by a 20 inch flumo to the
area to be ceclaimed and ie used to Pill previously mined
areas. This flume carries 100 of the water used in the
dredging process and therefore the water and sand would
be difficult to control as putting such "spoils" against
the dikes would create a greater liklihood of damaging
