The operation of the Schwartzwalder ~4ine has had an effect upon
• the hydrologic functions of the alluvial valley floor underlying Ralston
~ Creek. However, the effects have been limited as a result of the
mine dewatering and water treatment operations, and subsequent discharge
into Ralston Creek. Referring to Appendix E-2, the restoration of the
hydrologic functions of the alluvial valley floor will begin within
the first year after the completion of mining operations and urill
continue for several years thereafter.
Earth dams have not been constructed at the mine site, and there
will not be a requirement to construct any earthen dams for the remain-
ing life of the mine.

According to the Colorado Division of l•Jildlife, the operation of the
mine does not affect the critical periods of life of any of those
• species which require spacial consideration. (See Exhibit H)
The reclamation plan shall provide for the improvement of wildlife
habitat as a result of revegetating the affected land with native grasses
and the natural reintroduction of other plant types.
Tops oiling
Because this is an underground mine, .the removal of topsoil has not
been a requirement of the mining operation to date, and will not be re-
quired for the remaining life of the mine.
The topsoil to be applied to the affected land during tF~e reclama-
tion operation will be hauled to the site from a location in the Denver
Pletropolitan Area. The soil will be tested at that time to determine
the actual fertilizer requirements
• E-8
