Water for this <br />purpose is drawn from an 11 ft. diameter steel storage tank 4~hich re- <br />• cycles water to the water treatment plant and receives overflow from <br />a 12 ft. diameter steel thickener tank. All of the water anb slimes from <br />the ore sorter are collected and settled in the 12 ft. diam thickener from <br />which the overflow is directed to the 11 ft. diam tank. The solids, con- <br />taining approximately 30% moisture, are removed and mixed with the <br />surface stockpile of upgraded ore which is eventually trucked to <br />Canon City. <br />The present layout of the water-slimes handling system at the <br />ore sorter is shown in Figure D-6. <br />Impoundment System <br />A brief description of each pond, its size, and the calculated <br />retention time, based on maximum flow rates, is given below. <br />*Concrete Ponds 1 and 2 <br /> This is a single concrete pond 113 ft. long x SO ft. wide x 4 ft. deep, <br /> divided into two by a concrete wall.
