_.
Rock outcrop forms short, narrow cliffs and ledges and 1nw ~~o5s.
( • It consists of gneiss. Slope is 50 to 80 percent.
This unit is used mainly for wildlife habitat and watershed. :*
is also used for livestock grazing. Many areas of this unit are
inaccesible to livestock, however, Livestock have limited access to
lower side slopes, and grazing is mainly limited to foot slopes and
drainageways.
Tha potential plant community is mainly scattered pinyon and
Juniper and an understory of Scribner neadlagrass, blue grams, true
mountainmahogany, western wheatgrass, Gambel oak, and Indian
ricagrass. The potential production of the native understory
vegetation in normal years is about SOO pounds of air-dry vegetation
par acre. Ths density of;pinyon
/ • and uuniper stands is also variable.
Pinyon and juniper have limited economic value. Only foot slopes
and ridges generally are accessible. Steepness of slope limits
harvesting in the other areas.
This unit is poorly suited to homesita development. The main
limitations are steepness of slope and shallow depth to bedrock.
This map unit is in capability subclass VIIa, nonirrigated. It is
in the Pinyon-Juniper woodland site.

i
/C 7
