It formed .n mixed
alluvium. Th• native vegetation .s mainly grasses. Elevation .s
7,500 to 8,700 feet. The average annual precipitation ~s 15 to 18
inches, the average annual air temperature is 44 to 46 degrees r•, antl
the average frost-free period is 75 to 100 days.
Typically, th• surface layer is dark brown very cobbly sandy loam
about 6 inches thick. Tha subsoil is vary cobbly sandy clay loam
about l4 inches thick. The substratum to a depth of 60 inches or more
is very cobbly sandy loam. Th• soil is neutral. Th• substratum is
densely packed in soma profiles, and the content of hard rock
fragments in the substratum is less than 35 percent in some profiles.
Included in this unit is about 10 percent Tacolote vary gravelly
sandy loam adjacent to drainageways on side slopes facing northwest.
Tecolote soils lack a thick, dark surface layer. Areas of Tecolote
soils have an open to moderately dense stand of ponderosa pine and a
dense stand of Gambol oak. Also, there era a few areas about 6 to SU
feat in diameter of soils which are shallow to conglomerate.
Delineations of this mapping unit in Sac. 23, T. 20 S., R. 70 W.
include soils with stony surfaces and a small content of rock
fragments in the soil.
Permeability of this Curecanti soil is moderate. Available water
opacity ia'low. Effective rooting deptn is 60 inches or more.
Runoff is medium to rapid, and the hazard of water erosion ~s moderate
to vary high.
This unit ~s used for rangeland.
~~
i
~~~
