le and Timetable of Reclamation - Haul Road and Facilities Area
• Reclamation, with the exception of the crusher, conveyor, and loadout
facilities, was conducted in 1984 and completed in the spring of 1985.
The future plan for the reclamation of the crusher, conveyor, and loadout
is directly related to the coal market. The facilities may be sold, removed, or
operated by another company on site. The decision will be made prior to the
final reclamation obligation. Sun Coal's lease with the landowner does not
expire until the year 2003.
Revegetation Monitoring - Haul Road and Facilities Area
During the haul road decommissioning reclamation process, topsoil stock-
piles were disturbed; berms, ditches, and traps repaired or removed; rolling
dips installed; and rills and gullies repaired.
• All reclaimed disturbed areas were topsoiled, fertilized, and vegetated.
Map 8 illustrates areas reclaimed to complete the decommissioning plan. Areas
reclaimed in 1984-1985 plus areas disturbed and reclaimed during haul road
construction will be monitored for vegetative cover. Slope vegetation will be
qualitatively assessed; and, if determined during the survey that additional
seeding is required, Sun Coal Company will initiate a reseeding program. Haul
road maintenance and monitoring activities are discussed in Section 2.05.6.
Reclamation Costs -Haul Road and Facilities Area
Appendix 2.05.4-6 describes initial haul road and facility 1983 reclamation
costs calculated to determine bonding limits for Meadows No. 1 haul road and
facilities area. These costs are based upon a "worst-case" scenario in which
the State of Colorado would use bond money to retain a contractor(s) to decom-
. mission the road and facilities. The bond calculation represents the worst-case
situation.
- 341 - (Rev. 5/86)
