Page 3
to the main sump which lies southeast of the loading pocket. This
water will be used by way of jack tanks for drilling and wetting
down the muckpiles. Any excess water will be stored underground in
abandoned stopes down dip from any active operations.
The main ventilation will downcast through the Duggan Adit,
with the main fan located in the main drift of the Mineral Joe No.
4 workings. Airtight bulkheads will be installed at strategic
locations so as to prevent any contaminated air from entering the
fresh air stream from abandoned workings.
During the driving of the development drift, fresh air will be
delivered to the face via 24-inch diameter ventilation tubing.
During the production phase, a ventilation cross-cut will be driven
from the trackless haulageway to the old workings on the Mineral
Joe No. 4 and/or No. 5 claim. This cross-cut will also serve as
the secondary escapeway. Fresh air will be delivered down the
Duggan Adit, through the trackless haulageway to the work face,
then will exhaust out the cross-cut, the old workings and out the
Mineral Joe No. 4 incline. Auxiliary ventilation will be set up in
the stopes as required.
{There is minimal surface disturbance involved in the drilling
of a venthole. A drilling rig will drive to the proposed site and
drill a hole which will be somewhere between 48 inches and 84
inches in diameter. The cuttings (crushed rock from the hole) will
fall down into the mine and be removed as waste. A concrete pad
