RESPONSE:
Previously, as stated on page 2.05-34 of the permit application,
Peerless Resources, Inc. had committed to a mulch application of 2,000
pounds per acre on flat areas and 4,000 pounds per acre on steeper
slopes. However, this application rate was not acceptable to the
Division. At the direction of the Division, Peerless Resources, Inc.
will plan to mulch at a rate of two tons per acre on all reclaimed
surface sites and will crimp the mulch.
7. The applicant needs to state a timetable and season for pl
revegetation species at the mine site.
RESPONSE:
As stated on page 2.05-32 of Section 2.05.4, Peerless Resources, Inc.
plans to seed during late September or early October because this time
is the most favorable time for replanting in this area as it is just
prior to the season when the probability of moisture is at its greatest.
Seeding will occur during September or October of the year following
final closure of the Coal Gulch mining operations.
Also, as stated on page 2.05-32 of the permit document, Peerless
Resources, Inc. plans to plant appropriate containerized or bare root
tree plantings during the early spring following the previous year's
seeding activities. Planting during this period will result in minimal
damage to the seeded vegetation and will lessen the potential mortality
that can be expected when seedlings are transplanted into stands having
a more developed root system.
8.
Pendin the anal sis of the ualitative ve etation information to
be orovi ed by t e aoo icant the Division wi reserve eva nation
the roiiowin4 species and substitute additional acceotaoie species
over.

-51-
