• -23-
• ; • CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The coal of fhe Cameo "B" seam is exceptionally strong. Every effort should
- be made to take advantage of this condition. Pillars of 14 by 80 ft in size should
more than adequately support the loads resulting from the 50 by 100 ft area tributary
to each such pillar in the 3rd East and 2nd East Sections of the Roadside Mine and
• within 100 ft of the Ute Water Co's. surface facilities. These 14 by 80-ft pillars ore
more stable than those left in Pane! "G."
Backfill is recommended for the rooms within 100 ft of the Ute Water Co's.
surface facilities, not because it is needed for short-term stability but fo eliminate
the long-term potential of damaging subsidence effects. These long-term subsidence
effects become a real possibility many years, probably decades, after mining is complete,
r'
as the exposed pillars deteriorate.
I
l
L
