It is, therefore, recommended that all the rooms within 100 ft of the Ute <br />~ Water Co's. surface facilities, including the 24-in. wafer main, be backfilled to reduce <br />! potential subsidence reaching the surface. It is impossible to predict the magnitude <br />of subsidence reduction from backfilling that can be achieved because of the poorly <br />controlled placement of backfill, its consolidation and thickness. Nevertheless, backfill <br />has been highly succesfvl in reducing subsidence.
