~~~ ~G~~
rm'vonmrnml rrrcnrins andrn¢mrcn
The soils within these map units were examined for physical and morphologi~~al
characteristics at five locations. At the time of the survey, the soils in map unit SA w.'re
frozen at most locations and full examination was not possible.
Soi! santpli~:g and analysis. Samples of the stockpiled soil material, the undisturbed soils
itt map units SA and 7C, and the material on the cut slopes west of the loadout were
collected for laboratory analysis. Soils were sampled from pits dug by hand usin€; a
shovel and auger. Samples were collected in accordance with soil sampling procedures
recommended by the SCS (1972). A detailed profile description was recorded at each
undisturbed soil sampling site. All sample site locations were recorded on the field map.
One quart of soil material was obtained from each sampled increment. Soil samples were
placed in cleaz polyethylene bags, labelled and delivered to Inter-Mountain Laboratories,
Inc. in Sheridan, Wyoming for analysis. Parameters and methods are shown in Table 1.
Analysis results were transferred electronically precluding transcription ertors.
Table I.
