I.
r~
U
Surface disturbance already exists in the area due to seven years
prior mining activity, and the balance of mining activities will be con-
ducted by accepted use of explosives and heavy equipment in t:he conven-
tional quarry fashion.
II.
Other than the visual appearance of the extractive area, little
effect is known to exist on environmental resources. Dust control
equipment is in use on the aggregate processing equipment, acid topsoil
removed is being stockpiled for future use in stabilization •snd reclama-
tion efforts.
III.
No harmful impact or surface disturbance on other resources is
anticipated. The area in question has no other known natural resources.
As was mentioned in the preceding paragraph, much of the overburden or
topsoil is being retained and stockpiled for the ultimate landscaping
of the area. "French drains" and/or perforated pipe have been installed
to insure the natural flow of surface water in its established channels.
As the mining operation is conducted, "terraces" or "benches" are being
shaped to form the situs for future development consistent with the
C-2 zoning. As each terrace is completed, preliminary site shaping
will be accomplished consistent with future development.
The primary effect of surface disturbance, as mentioned above, is
visual. The Company will seek to monitor this effect by sound mining
practices and its ultimate use of the property.
V.
Stabilization and reclamation will be basically the re:ahaping of
the natural terrain into a series of relatively level terra~~es of various
sizes and shapes suitable for building sites. The mining a~~tivities will
progressively establish each terrace as the overburden and :subsurface
crystalline rock are removed. Additional stabilization and reclamation
will be performed on the back slopes as may be required to comply with the
-2-
I
