Absher Series - Contd. <br />• The C horizon is heavy clay loam or clay, has 35 to 50 percent clay, is <br />moderately or very strongly alkaline (pH 8.5 to 9.2) and has common to <br />• many masses of segregated gypsum and sodium sulfate. Lime is dissemi- <br />nated or occurs as fine masses and thread. The ESP ranges from 25 to SO <br />within a depth of 40 inches. The EC mmhos/cm ranges from 10 to 30. Some <br />pedons have thin lenses of lighter textured material in the lower part of <br />the C horizon. <br />Binco Series (10) <br />The Binco series is a member of the fine, montmorillonitic family of <br />Borollic Vertic Camborthids. <br />Typical Pedon: Binco silty clay loam <br />• Al 0-4"-Grayish brown (lOYR 5/2) silty clay loam, dark grayish <br />• brown (2.SY 4/2) moist; moderate medium platy parting to <br />moderate medium granular structure; slightly hard, firm, <br />sticky, plastic; non-calcareous, mildly alkaline; clear <br />smooth boundary. <br />B21 4-21"--Grayish brown (2.SY 5/2) clay, olive brown (2.SY 4/4) <br />moist; weak coarse prismatic parting to weak coarse sub- <br />angular blocky structure; very hard, very firm, sticky, <br />plastic; common slickensides on horizontal faces; calcare- <br />ous, mildly alkaline; gradual smooth boundary. <br />B22ca 21-36"--Grayish brown (2.SY 5/2) clay, light olive brown (2.SY <br />5/4) moist; weak coarse prismatic parting to moderate <br />coarse subangular blocky structure; very hard, very firm, <br /> <br />
