Typical Pedon: Unnamed 30 loam <br />Al 0- 4"--Very dark grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) loam, very dark <br />brown (lOYR 2/2) when moist; weak, fine, granular struc- <br />ture; soft when dry, very friable when moist; calcareous; <br />clear smooth boundary. <br />H25 4-10"-Dark Gray (lOYR 4/1) clay loam, black (lOYR 2/1) when <br />moist; 25 percent of reddish brown SYR 5/4 mottles; moder- <br />ate, medium and fine subangular blocky structure; soft <br />when dry, very friable when moist; noncalcareous; thick, <br />continuous clay films; clear smooth boundary. <br />C1 20-35"--Grayish brown (lOYR 5/2) sandy clay loam, very dark <br />grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) moist; weak coarse subangular <br />blocky parting to weak medium subangular blocky structure; <br />slightly hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly <br />• plastic; mildly alkaline; clear smooth boundary. <br />C2 35-60"--Grayish brown (lOYR 5/2) sandy clay loam, dark grayish <br />brown (IOYR 4/2) moist; massive; slightly hard, friable, <br />slightly sticky and slightly plastic; mildly alkaline. <br />Range in Characteristics: Content of rock fragments ranges from 0 to 15 <br />percent by volume and are mainly less than 3 inches in diameter. <br />The A and AC horizons have hue of lOYR, a value of 3 or 4 dry, 2 or <br />3 moist, and a chrome of 2 or 3. <br />The C horizons have hue of lOYR, a value of 3 through 5 dry, 2 <br />through 4 moist, and a chrome of 2 or 3. <br />• <br />
