Parachute Series - Contd. • B21 5-13"--Very dark grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) loam, very dark brown (lOYR 2/2) moist; moderate medium subangular blocky • structure; slightly hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; 5 to 10 percent fine channery material; many fine roots; neutral; clear smooth boundary. (5 to 9 inches thick) B22 13-18"--Brown (lOYR 5/3) loam, brown (lOYR 4/3) moist; weak medium subangular blocky structure; slightly hard, fri- able, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; 10 to 15 percent fine and medium channery material; common fine and medium roots; neutral; clear wavy boundary. (4 to 8 inches thick) B3 18-29"-Light yellowish brown (lOYR 6/4) extremely channery loam, yellowish brown (lOYR 5/4) moist; weak coarse sub- angular blocky structure; hard, friable, sticky and plas- • tic; 80 percent channery material, mostly 3/4 to 3 inch size; few medium and fine roots; neutral; clear wavy boundary. (6 to 16 inches thick) R -29"-Hard, slightly fractured sandstone. Range in Characteristics: Depth to the lithic contact ranges from 20 to 40 inches. The control section is typically loam and has 18 to 35 per- cent clay. Rock fragments range from 35 to 85 percent by volume, most of which are 3/4 to 3 inches in length. The Al and B2 horizons have hue of 7.SYR through 2.SY, value of 3 through 5 dry, 2 or 3 moist and chroma of 2 or 3. The B 3 horizon and the C horizon, if present, have hue of 7.SYR through 2.SY.
