Parcel B

1. This area is similar to Parcel A in regard to its tree
stand and deer habitat. This parcel would also benefit from
planting Cottonwood and Willow saplings to improve the age
and height diversity of the stand. The wetland on this
property provides excellent habitat for a number of bird
species. I recommend that if at all possible, this wetland
area be preserved since it has a wide diversity of habitat
for such a small area, including open water, Willows, O~
Cattails, and Sedges. ~.~"a90"~
2. This parcel is also impacted by Leafy spurge and by two

other noxious weed species: Squarrose knapweed (Centaurea
G
viraata var. souarrosa) and Russian knapweed (Centaurea
reoens) No revegetation can occur unless these weed
species. are eliminated. Contact the Cooperative Extension
Service in Weld county at (303) 637-8100 for weed control
guidelines. Every effort should be made to control this
weed problem before revegetating.
3. The intent of this proposal is to restore Parcel B either to
a lake or shallow wetland type habitat. If a lake is
created, the side slopes above water should not exceed 3
feet horizontal to one foot vertical. Graded slopes can -
then be reseeded using the mix of grasses provided for ~
Parcel A and the recommended practices for grass seeding.
If the land is developed as a shallow water wetland, the
same guidelines as for Parcel A can be used. I would

recommend that the wetland on Parcel A be developed before ~""" V
the existing wetland on Parcel B is mined. Many of the ~E{- ~
wetland plants in Parcel B could be transplanted to Parcel
A. After Parcel B is mined, some of the plants growing in
Parcel A could be moved back to the new wetland in Parcel B.
Parcel C:
1. Access to this parcel was limited to observing it from 100th
Ave. There was a wetland area that provides lower quality
habitat compared to the wetland in Parcel B. Since we could
not access the property-we were unable to see if there were
any noxious weeds present or evaluate the type of grass
cover. If there are noxious weeds present in any quantity
they must be controlled prior to any revegetation efforts.
2. Since this land is planned for industrial use, no wetlands
will be created after mining. However, cover will need to
be established to protect the soil from erosion between
mining and industrial development. Please use the grass
seeding recommendation for Parcel C and the recommended
practices for grass planting enclosed for this purpose. If
possible, Parcel C should be mined after Parcel A so that
the wetland plants on Parcel C can be transplanted into the
new wetland in Parcels A and/or B.
10
