• road is shown in plan on the maps contained in Appendix A. <br />1.1.5 Refuse Disposal Area <br />The refuse disposal area covers approximately 30 acres in <br />the northwest quarter of Section 30. The refuse disposal <br />facility contains coal reject material. The facility is <br />constructed to a maximum height of 75 feet with two horizontal to <br />one vertical slopes. The plan location of the refuse area is <br />shown on the maps contained in Appendix A. Description of the <br />refuse pile and design of the structure is contained in the June <br />14, 1982 Rocky Mountain Geotechnical Report entitled, <br />"Reconstruction Plan .and Storage Optimization - Dorchester Coal <br />Company, Fremont County, Colorado. A copy of this report is <br />included in Attachment D of the permit application (3/83). Included <br />• within this refuse disposal area is a rock drain which travels <br />the width of the refuse pile in the northeast and southeast <br />portions of the disposal area. The refuse disposal area is <br />located primarily over the main access panels. <br />The ground surface in the vicinity of the refuse disposal <br />area is characterized by regular contours, draining a slope of 4 <br />to 68 to the east. The reject material, which amounts to <br />approximately 20-308 of the mine production, is truck-hauled from <br />the wash plant operations and is placed along the west side of <br />the embankment and compacted. <br />1.1.6 Fresh Water Pond No. 3 and Sedimentation Pond No. 4 <br />Fresh water pond No. 3 and sedimentation pond No. 4 are <br />located on the north and east sides, respectively, of the refuse <br />• embankment and ace each slightly less than an acre in area.
