as described in Section 2.05.4. GEC Minerals, Inc. plans to mulch
and otherwise prepare the surface in preparation for successful
revegetation efforts. These methods are described within Section
2.04.
GEC Minerals, Inc. plans to backfill, grade and reestablish the
drainage between the two planned areas of mining as shown on Map
15, Mine Plan. This area had been previously mined by surface
methods and was abandoned. In addition, adits and other undergroi
openings are found within this area. These openings will be
backfiTTed to prevent infiltration of ground water into or out of
the abandoned underground mines. Topsoil and subsoil material
may not, Soils Map No. 11, be present in sufficient quantities to
allow distribution of these materials to depths presumably found
prior to disturbance. Where this condition is found, colluvium
material or other equivalent soil material will be utilized to
• permit the reestablishment of a permanent and diverse vegetative
cover.
Similar disturbed areas are present in the tipple area as shown
on the Existing Structures Map No. 22. These disturbed areas will
be backfilled utilizing adjacent available material to cover the
exposed coal seams and underground openings and reestablish surface
drainage over the area. In addition, topsoil material consisting
of colluvium or other available material will be spread over the
surface to enable the reestablishment of a permanent diverse
vegetative cover. The approved plan is included within Exhibit 11.
Operation Description. A detailed description of the mining operation
and areas to be affected within the permit area is included within
the production methods and equipment section of this application. The
mine plan is displayed graphically on the Mine Plan Map No. 15 and in
the Mine Plan Cross Section, Map No. 10. In addition, the areas to
be affected by the mine plan are shown in Table 2.05.3, Affected
• Areas for Mining and Reclamation.
2.05-8
