which have been mulched during the first available planting season.
In addition, immediately following mulching and seeding the slope
~ areas will be contour furrowed to minimize the erosion potential
and maintain the stability of the area until such time as vegeta-
tion is sufficiently established.
Revegetation Plan. Immediately following the redistribution of
subsoil and topsoil materials on the regraded area, a straw mulch
will be applied at the rate of approximately two tons per acre.
Following application the mulch will be crimped to ensure its
stability. During the first available planting period, the area
which has been retopsoiled and mulched will be seeded. Those areas
which GEC Minerals, Inc. plans to revegetate are shown on Table
2.05-3, Affected Areas for Mining and Reclamation.
GEC Minerals, Inc. plans to utilize a seed mixture which will
• revegetate the area with a diverse mixture as shown in Table 2.05-
10, Seed Mixture, which will provide for an ecologically state of
stability and which is compatible to the proposed post-mining land
uses. The schedule which GEC Minerals, Inc. plans to use is shown
at Table 2.05-3, Affected Areas for Mining and Reclamation.
Revegetation of these areas will be conducted during the first
planting season of that year but following the application and
redistribution of topsoil and subsoil materials, mulching and
preparation of the site for seeding. Normally, the first available
planting season will be within the period April 1st to May 1st just
prior to the season when the probability of moisture in the area is
at its greatest.
Mulch which will be applied at a rate of two tons per acre will be
obtained locally and will be native grass hay if possible. If
native grass hay is not available, clean cereal grain straw will be
utilized.

2.05-27
