All parameters except
dept to ime are within the official range of characteristics. The carbonate content of the calcic hor lzon was less than IS%. Depth to the calcic horizon
ranges from 24 to 29 inches. The mollic eDlPedon was typically about 10 or I1 inches thick. Clay content of the control section ranges from 35 to 59
percent. Dominant vegetation at the description sites include serviceberry, sagebrush, snowberry, oakbrush, chokecherry, and arrowleaf balsomroot.
Chaperton variant MU: 62C, SN: 22 Coarse-loamy, mined Borollic Camborthid
A 0-9 ~ SL lOYR 4/3 W F GR SH VFR SS/SP Many F, VF 6 0 EO C5
Few M
Bwl 9-16 SL lOYR 4/3 W F SBK SH VFR 55/SP Com F, VF E 0 EO CS
Few M
Bw2 16-21 SL lOYH 5/3 W F SBK SO VFR SS/SP Com F, VF b 0 EO LS
', Few M
L1 21-34 LS lOYR 5.5/3 SG LO VFR NS/NP Few F, VF 0 EO CS
C2 34-52 LS lOYR 4/3 SG LO VFR NS/NP Few F, YF 0 EO LS
C3 52-60 LS lOYli 6/3 SG LO VFR NS/NP None 0 EO --
Ramon a of Characteristics: Chaperton variant was described at 2 locations within the study area (profile description site M22 and 45). This soil was
c lassi ie as a variant" because the clay content of the Control section is less than l1 percent (i.e., coarse loamy). Portions of this map unit are also
somewhat poorly to moderately well drained. All other parameters are within the official range of characteristics. Dominant vegetation at the description
sites include silver and big sagebrush.
• • •
