Mr. Randy Schafer
-2-
Permit Application Submittal
1. Pursuant to Rule 3.110,
application form and all
copy.
April 8, 1986
the operator must submit two copies of the
attachments; however, we only received one
Please provide a second copy of your permit application, including
attachments and maps.
Exhibit B - Mining Map
It is strongly advised that the handling of stockpiled topsoil be
minimized as much as possible. The stockpiles should be placed in an
area not to be disturbed until reclamation commences. Your plan to
stockpile topsoil in the existing pit suggests a possibility that
activity in and around the pit area could disturb the topsoil. Is
there a convenient area that you plan to place the piles such that they
do not interfere with mining activities, and therefore are well
protected from machinery and truck traffic?
2. Do you plan to use any water at the site? If so, please elaborate.
3. Do you expect to do any processing such as crushing, washing, or
screening on site? If so, please elaborate.
4. If topsoil is stockpiled for longer than one growing season, the
operator should grade and reseed the piles to prevent excessive
erosion. The staff recommends grading to slopes less than 2:1 and
reseeding with the seed mixture and application rate committed to by
the operator for final re vegetation.
5. Approximately how much topsoil (in cubic yards) will be available for
final reclamation?
6. What is the nature of the material beneath the gravel stratum and which
will constitute the pit floor. If it is consolidated bedrock, at least
one foot of gravel should be left in-place which will provide rooting
depth for plants. This material should be in addition to and beneath
the growth medium or soil replacement.
Exhibit C - Map
1. The map includes the names of landowners adjacent to the section
quarter boundaries but does not include the owners of the section
quarter itself. It appears that the owner is the Austin Hereford
Ranch. Is this correct?
2. It appears that the scale of your map is 1 inch = 500 feet. Is this
correct?
