Mr. Randy Schafer - 3 - April 8, 1986
Exhibit D - Wildlife, Water Resources, Vegetation, and Soils
1. Please forward to us the report from the Colorado Division of Wildlife
when it is received.
Exhibit E - Reclamation
1. The staff believes that there is not sufficient quantity of topsoil to
respread evenly across the disturbed area. The staff recommends that
the operator replace topsoil only in the areas from which he removed
it. The existing pit area should be regraded to 3:1 or less slopes,
covered with an alternative growth medium which includes some organic
material and revegetated. Possibly the local Austin Hereford Ranch
could supply manure and straw. The operator is advised to consult the
local Soil Conservation Service for recommendations. The SCS also may
be able to recommend a seed mixture adaptable to this alternative
growth medium.
2. Your suggestion of fencing the area to prevent grazing is a good one,
as this measure should increase your chances of successful re vegetation.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
C ~-
Patricia C.
