~~
N

Material stockpiled in the processing site will be used as demand
for the material dictates. This material will either be crushed into
several gradations to make road base materials or removed directly from
the site to be used as subgrade stabilization material or fill material.
The crushing operation will not be conducted on a permanent basis, but on
a demand basis as the need for the material dictates. An Emissions Permit
has been obtained from the Colorado Department of Health to operate the
crushing units, a copy of which is enclosed.
The anticipated time period to complete mining of Pits I and II will
be approximately two months from the start of the mining operation for each
pit. These two pits have a combined area of approximately 8 acres.
The depth of the overburden is approximately 6 feet, and the natural
~••
sand and gravel depth is approximately 12 feet. The material beneath the
sand and gravel is Mancos Shale.
During the mining and crushing operations, haul roads will be maintained
with water trucks to keep dust to a minimum. 23 Road has been paved from
[he entrance to the stockpile area north to the Highway, which eliminates
dust generated from materials hauled from the processing site.
After mining has been completed in Pit Area II, a channel will be dug
connecting this pit with the adjacent existing pond to make them one con-
tinuous pond.
•
