Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 3l Page 2
003-2203
passes over the entire surface of each lift. The material consisted of large rocks, sandy gravel with
some silt and clay. The non-rock portion was generally moist.
• Confirmation drilling and/or excavation remediation was performed on underground workings UG-
460 and UG-461. Boreholes 1 through 6 were drilled for UG-461 to delineate a possible lateral in
the direction of the Phase IVa. Drilling for UG-46] is complete with all grouting and surveying
finished as of September 7d'. Backfilling and compaction activities associated with UG-460 and
UG-461 were also completed on September 7a'. An Ames Caterpillaz 330B track-hoe filled the two
workings with structural fill into loose lifts not exceeding approximately three feet in thickness. The
fill was compacted using either the track-hoe bucket or the Caterpillar 563 vibratory roller.
Phase IVb
Ames began transporting Soil Liner Fill (SLF) material to the LOB using two Caterpillaz 777 haul
trucks. A Caterpillar D-8 dozer and a Caterpillar 14G motor grader were used to roughly spread and
compact the material to a loose depth of approximately 1.3 feet. A laborer was present to make
certain no debris or deleterious material was present in the fill and to keep account of all the rebaz
stakes used for depth control, ensuring they did not become buried in the fill. A portion of the fill
azea was rolled on September 3rd as a temporary measure to protect from rain.
Ames performed slope recontouring located to the north of the new LOB location to form the bench
for the geomembrane anchor trench. A Caterpillar 375 excavator and a Caterpillar D-8 dozer were
used to excavate and load the material onto 777s for use as Structural Fill. Ames continued to blade
and compact the SLF surface, excluding the north slopes. Six depth checks of the in-situ SLF were
• performed by the contractor. Work also continued on assorted small fills and grading of subgrade in
the general azea.
No confirmation drilling was performed in this area during this reporting period.
Phase IVc
Ames did not perform any cut or fill activities within the Phase IVc azeas during this reporting
period.
Confirmation drilling was performed in the Phase IVc construction area on underground working
UG-294B boreholes 27-36. Drilling is complete on this working as of September Sd'. Drilling
proceeded in the Phase IVc construction azea on UG-236 For boreholes 10-30. Drilling for this
underground working is complete as of September 7`s wiih all grouting and surveying finished.
(See Attachment A for approximate construction locations for all Phase N azeas.)
Field Monitorine and Testing Activities
Golder observed construction activities associated with Phase IV earthworks. All construction
materials and soil materials were verified as suitable and construction methods were in accordance

Phve IVJI Sept2-$epte.doe Golder Associates Inc.
