Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 30 Page 2
footprint, where the Arequa gulch sedimentation pond will later be constmcted.
003-2203
• Ames also began fill placement and compaction efforts associated with the construction of the Phase
IVa southern access road, south of the IVa liner construction limits. A Caterpillaz D10 cut from a
local borrow above the fill, down into lifts approximately 12" in thickness. A Mack Tandem axle
water truck provided moisture conditioning of the fill when required, and a Caterpillar 563C
distributed compactive effort across the fill azea.
Ames conducted slope re-contouring in the Phase IVa azea, which included blasting east of the
existing HWY 67, at Permanent Diversion Channel stations 34+00 through 44+00 on August 27`s
through 30`x.
Confirmation drilling was performed on underground working UG-472; boreholes 1 through 21,
with no discovery of additional workings. The boreholes were grouted on August 30u'. Excavation
was performed ornAugust 30a' on underground workings UG-462 through dJG-472 by use of a
Caterpillaz 330B track-hoe. Of these workings, UG-462 through UG-471 were immediately
backfilled and compacted as no working was encountered during the excavation (most workings
were dug only a few feet into solid rock).
Phase IVb
Ames completed placement and compaction efforts of SF, west of the active crasher, for the new
LOB construction subgrade. A Caterpillaz D8 dozer was used in the azea to perform rough grading
of the southwest facing inboazd side slope, and the top surface of the fill. A Caterpillaz 563C
vibratory roller performed compaction activities on the top and side slope of the fill. A Caterpillaz
D8 dozer had to rip the top surface on several occasions during this reporting period in order to
facilitate drying after precipitation events, then re-roll the fill to grade. The water wagon and/ or the
Mack water truck attained moisture conditioning when necessary.
Confirmation drilling was performed on underground working EI-Point, Boreholes 10 and 11, to
delineate an anomaly discovered within the working when it was previously drilled. No additional
workings were identified, completing the drilling program for the working. The boreholes were
grouted on August 30u'.
Phase IVc
Ames did not perform any cut or fill activities within the Phase IVc areas during this reporting
period.
Confirmation drilling was performed on underground working UG-294B (in which the drilling
program on this working began several weeks prior), boreholes 13 through 26. To date, no borehole
on this working identifies additional workings. The boreholes drilled this week were grouted on
August 30~'.
(See Attachment A for approximate construction locations for all Phase IV azeas.)
e~w. rv.3u wszss~wi.m~ Golder Associates lnc.
