D.7 Heap Leach Facilities Description
D.7.1 General
The heap leach facilities consist of a leach pad, a
barren solution pond, and a pregnant solution ~~ond, as well
as the necessary ditch systems for solution collection and
' runoff diversion. As discussed in Section D.5, the pregnant
solution is conveyed by pumping from the ponds to the mill
where it is combined with the final stages of the milling
circuit for processing. Solutions will be pumped to and from
' the mill in pressure tested piping. The proposed heap leach
plan map, typical cross-sections, and typical details are shown
' on Figures C-10, C-11, and C-12, respectively.
The heap leach facilities are designed to operate as a
closed-circuit system. The ponds are sized to store required
operating net inflows from average climatic conditions, heap
' draindown, and the 100-yr, 24-hr design storm event without
overtopping. The pad liners have been designed as double-lined
r
' system with a secondary recovery system between the two liners
to intercept, control and recover potential leaks through the
' upper liner. The pond liners has been designed as a double
liner system with a leak detection layer to allow monitoring
of liner integrity. The facilities layout provides positive
drainage from the process area to the solution ponds.
Additional layout and design criteria pertinent to the specific
1 structures are discussed in the following sections.
All heap leach facility construction will be supervised
by a registered professional engineer. Certification that each
phase of the leach pad construction was constructed to the
specification approved in the permit will be submitted
following completion of construction.
' D-38 (Revised 4/20189)
