Th t
ili
li
id
l
d f l
e
a
ngs
qu
was ana
yze
or water qua
ity
parameters only. The liquid was slightly alkaline with
' moderate levels of bicarbonate and sulfate. All
parameters measured were below drinking water and most
parameters were not present in detectable levels.
' The samples of tailings solids were first analyzed
for acidification/neutralization potential. The tailings
sample and the rinsed tailings sample were not
appreciably different in sulfur content, acrid producing
potential, or acid neutralizing potential. The tests
' showed low potential for acid production w~th almost no
acid neutralization potential.
1
:t
The second stage of testing was the leachability
test. The leachability test results showed overall an
alkaline material in both samples with lower values for
major cations and anions in the rinsed :;ample. Most
metals remained below detection limits in both samples.
The metals measured slightly above detection limits were
barium and manganese in both samples. In the unrinsed
tailings sample, copper and zinc were also measured at
levels slightly above detection limits.
Results of the EP Toxicity Test showec only barium
above detection limits in both samples. Barium was well
below the level of 100 mg/l, considered characteristic
of EP toxicity.
Humidity cell data shows that the tailings material
has no potential for acid generation.
~-37
