• DIVISION OF MINERALS & GEOLOGY BOARD PERMIT APPLiCAT]ON
REGULAR OPEKAI'ION 1112)
PROJECT NAME: HOGUE/RIVER PIT
I' a e c .,
EXHIBIT D - MINING PLAN
Initial mining operations will commence at the existing
pond area and move westerly. This will utilize the
remaining gravel reserves in this area. As these reserves
are exhausted, mining operations will expand to the west.
Topsoil will be stripped ahead of mining operations. It
may be possible to strip topsoil in association with actual
mining operations. If this method is feasible, very little
area will be reyuired to be disturbed prior to actual
mining operations. If this method is not feasible, an area
niay require topsoil removal prior to gravel extraction.
However, due to the depth of existing gravel reserves, only
a small area will be reyuired to be stripped prior Co
mining. It is estimated that a maximum of two acres would
be stripped of topsoil prior to actual gravel extraction.
Actual area to be mined in Phase I is approximately S.0
acres.
• A small area will be stripped on the south side of the
existing pond for dewatering operations and construction of
a settling pond. Less than one acre will be required for
the dewatering system, which would include the settling
pond and trenches.
As the pit excavation expands westerly during Phase I
operations, irrigation water will be redirected along the
northwest and west boundaries of the pit excavation.
By utilizing the gravel reserves in the existing pond area
first, overburden will not be evident - having been removed
during previous mining operations. Some unsuitable
material may be encountered during this stage of Phase I,
although this is not anticipated. If unsuitable material
is encountered during mining in the pond area, it will be
stockpiled in an area stripped of topsoil. This material
will be placed back in the pit excavation once there is
sufficient area. After the existing pond area is
sufficiently mined, overburden and unsuitable material
encountered during pit expansion will be transported
directly to backfill areas.
•
Duckc:ls Construction, Inc. dba Yampa Aggregates
41230 Routt County Rd. #129, Steamboat Springs, Colorado 80487
