• DIVISION OF MINERALS & GEOLOGY BOARD PERMIT APPLICA"PION
REGULAR OPERATION (112)
PROJECT NAME: HOGUE/RIVER PIT
Page 2
EXtiIF~IT D - MINING PLAN
_. Overburden stripping is anticipated to be minimal due to
the close proximity of the gravel reserves to the ground
surface. Any material unsuitable Tor topsoil will be
hauled to previously mined areas and utilized on the back-
fill operations. This material may also be used to flatten
pit shorelines.
4. Exploratory tests have indicated that the thickness of
gravel deposits to be mined vary from 21 feet on the south
side of the project to 47 feet on the north side of the
project. Bedrock lays directly underneath the existing
gravel reserves. Gravels will be removed to bedrock or to
levels that permit feasible economic recoverability.
_`. The proposed main access to the site will be at milepost
126.2 (approximately) on U.S. Highway 40. Interior
• accesses are as described in the mining plan maps.
E.. Due to the low lying nature of the area, close proximity to
the Yampa River, and existing water in the pond area, it is
anticipated that the water table will be from three feet to
six feet from the existing ground elevation.
C. General Mining Methods and Operations
Approximately 12" to 24" of topsoil exists in the project
area. Approximately 12" of topsoil will be stripped from
mining areas and stockpiled as shown on the attached map.
Topsoil from Phase I will be stockpiled along the north and
northwest limits of Phase I operations. As mining
progresses, topsoil from stripping will be hauled directly
to the previously mined areas and used to reclaim these
areas. Additional stockpiles may be handled separately.
It is anticipated Chat wetland topsoil will be transported
directly to wetland replacement areas.
,•
Duckels Construction, Inc. dba Yampa Aggregates
41230 Routt County Rd. #129, Steamboat Springs, Colorado 80487
