• DIVISION OF MINERALS & GEOLOGY BOARD PERMIT APPLICATION
REGULAk OPERATION 1112)
PROJECT NAME: HOGUE/RIVER PIT
P'a~e 1.
E,l'HIBIT D - t`11N1NG PLAN
a. wetland topsoil will be removed with an excavator with
a 35 foot plus or minus reach and loaded in haul units
to be hauled to the stockpile area, directly to areas
prepared for wetland replacement or areas for creation
of wetlands.
By using an excavator, we will be able Co mine [he
wetland area without placing fill in designated wetland
areas. This will be accomplished by walking the
excavator along the edge of the wetlands, removing the
wetland topsoil and loading haul units in the upland
areas along the edge of the wetlands. In areas where
the excavator is unable to reach the center of the
wetlands, the excavator will walk through the center of
the wetland area removing topsoil to the underlying
gravels. Haul units will then be able to follow the
• excavator by driving on the gravel surface. After the
center strip is removed, the excavator will be able to
walk along the outer edges of the wetland area and
remove topsoil as described previously.
b. If overburden is encountered during mining operations,
the material will be transported directly to the
backfill area of the Phase I pond. The overburden and
other unsuitable material will be contoured to create
wetlands in this area. Approximately one foot of
topsoil will be placed over the overburden.
During mining operations, the shorelines of the Phase
II pit will be constructed and shaped similar to Phase
I operations.
B. Moderate Disturbance Areas
1. Backfill operations in Phase ti should be minimal (as in
Phase i) due to the depth of the excavations and the small
yuanti[y of overburden and/or unsuitable material expected
to be encountered during gravel extraction. These
materials would be utilized for backfilling the northwest
corner of the Phase I pit. It is anticipated that all
overburden materials would be transported directly to
• backfill areas during Phase I[.
Duckels Construction, Inc. dba Yampa Aggregates
41230 Routt County Rd. #129, steamboat Springs.
