Rule 2.05.3 - Operation Plan - Permit Area <br />• <br />Each application shall contain a detailed description of the specific <br />mining operations proposed to be conducted within the permit area. This <br />description shall include, at a minimum, the following: <br />(1) Production methods and equipment. A narrative description of the <br />specific type and method of coal mining procedures and proposed engineering <br />techniques, anticipated annual and total production of coal by tonnage, and <br />the major equipment to be used for all aspects of those operations. <br />RESPONSE: <br /> <br />Coal will not be mined at Mine No. 3, this section is no longer <br />applicable. <br />Surface coal mining will be conducted at Colorado Yampa Coal's <br />Mine No. 3 using the standard area strip mining method with front end <br />loaders and dozers performing overburden removal. All topsoil over the <br />area to be mined has been removed and stockpiled. <br />A total of 510,000 bank cubic yards (BCY's) of overburden are to <br />be removed by the truck/loader method, with 250,000 BCY's of this <br />material being stockpiled and used to backfill the final cut.
