Correlations with other sites: the Elko and Rose Spring corner notched
are similar to specimens from Hogup Cave (Aikens 1970:38, Fig. 20a; 37,
Fig. 13); Jennings' type W18 from Danger Cave (1957:115, Fig. 89a; 177,
Fig. 159a); Type 3e at the Jones Hole site (Breternitz 1970:64-65); and
specimens from Hells Midden (Lister 1951:17, Figs 7, 8) and Castle
Park (Burgh and Scoggin 1948:49, Fig. 22) show similar morphological
characteristics. Types as and bb from the LoDaisKa site (Irwin and Irwin
1959:35, Fig. 26), and from Magic Mountain (Irwin-Williams and Irwin 1966:
94, Fig. 30) have additional correlations in morphological features.
Projectile points: expandin stem narrower than blade, flat base, shay
Lateral tang, Type rva. Four specimens Fig. 7p-s, cc .
Description: triangular outline with the stem slightly more divergent
than the blade. The stem is wider relative to the total width, and is
pressure flaked over both faces, with a smooth to slightly serrated blade.
Material: chert.
Size range: length, 34 rani.; width, 18-22 mm.; and thickness, 4-7 mm.
Special notes: one member of the class has been heat spalled.
Correlations with other sites: the I.1cKean site, upper level (Mulloy
1954:446, Fig. 4, Item 8); also Type mm36 at Magic Mountain (Irwin-Wil-
liams and Irwin 1966:92, Fig. 29).
Projectile points: expanding stem narrower than blade, indented base,
~• sharp lateral tang, Type zvc. Two specimen (Fig. li, dd).
Description: stem is slightly expanding, the shoulder is higher on one
side than the other, and there is a triangular outline. The base has a
prominent "V" shaped notch 2 rnrn, in depth, and extending over most of
the base. Percussion and pressure flaking techniques are present; blade
edges are slightly irregular.
Material: chert.
Size range: length, 48 mm.; width, 24 mm.; and thickness, 3 rrmr.
Special notes: other than having an expanding stem rather than a paral-
lel-sided stem, this class is very similar to Type II.
Correlations with other sites: the McKean site (Mulloy 1954:446, Fig. 4,
Items 33, 35; Wheeler 1954:7-13, Fig. 2a) is very similar.
Projectile points: expanding stem narrower than blade, leaf-shaped,
curved oblique tang, Type zvD. Two specimens (Fig. 7u, v).
Description: curved inner notch margin, biconvex outline, and relatively
broad for length. The stems are short, fairly wide, and are flat based;
there is pressure flaking ~~ith a varying degree of fineness.
Materials: chert and quartzite.
Size range: length, 40-50 mm.; width, 25-34 mm.; and thickness, 4-7 mm.
Special notes: the specimens of this type are among the largest of any
. in the entire collection of projectile points.
