The project is located in an azea that is not mapped as suitable lynx habitat. <br />There is a nearby stand of Douglas-fir that has been mapped as suitable denning habitat. <br />However, this is a smail isolated pocket that is several miles from other lazger expanses <br />of Douglas-fir/Spruce fir habitat. Based upon current studies being conducted in <br />Colorado by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW) and in Montana by the USFS <br />this small stand does not provide conditions suitable for lynx denning. <br />
