_ elevation.
• Typically, this mapping unit has a lithic contact between 16 and 20 inches of the
surface. Included in this mapping unit are rocklands, sandstone outcroppings, and a
Typic Cryoboroll of the loamy-skeletal family. Inclusions make up about 25 percent
of the map unit.
Permeability is moderately rapid. Water erosion hazard is moderate. Depth to
ground water is greater than S feet. Effective rooting depth is about 17 inches.
Stoniness class is 4.
Land capability unit is Vllle.
MAP UNIT Un32A: UNNAMED SERIES 32, 0 TO 2 PERCENT SLOPE
This somewhat poorly drained, moderately deep, coarse textured soil occurs on
nearly level to level slopes. They are formed in mixed alluvial material on the
terraces and alluvial valley floors adjacent to Fish and Trout Creeks. This mapping
unit occurs in Sections 30 and 36, T.SN R.85W at 6,600 to 6,975 feet elevation.
Soil profiles for this mapping unit do not differ significantly from the series
• description, Unnamed Series 32. The depth to water table may be measured at
different levels due to proximity of creeks.
Dominate vegetation is Artemisia cans silver sage, A. Tridentata big sage, Carex
sPP•, sedges, Bromus sPP•, brome grass, and Phleum ~ Timothy.
Included within this mapping unit are small areas of the Idmon loam, afine-
loamy, Pachic Cryoboroll and Typic Cryaquolls. At Fish Creek this mapping unit
occurs on The wide, nearly level alluvial valley floors, Section 16 and 15, T.SN
R.BbW. These areas have a somewhat deeper water table and may have been used
for hay production.
Vegetation of Phleum ~ Timothy and Bromus ss~. brome grass dominate.
Wetter areas adjacent to Fish Creek as in Section I I, T.SN R.86W, have vegetation
indicating the shallow depth of the water table such as Artemisia cans silver sage
and Pentaphylloides floribunda shrubby cinquefoil.
Presently these soils are used for livestock grazing and rangeland. The
vegetation varies from Artemisia tridentata big sage to lush grasses.
Permeability is moderately rapid to rapid. Erosion is high without adequate
vegetative cover. Depth to ground water is quite variable; the range is 23 to 54
• inches. Effective rooting depth is as variable as the water table depth.
Stoniness class ranges from 0 to 3; higher class is normally found closer to
2.3-17
