Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 48 Page 3
003-2203
Ames performed confirmatory drilling activities associated with the Phase IVc construction area on
known underground workings UG-257, UG-261, and UG-495.
Ames continued placement of Select Structural Fill (SSF) into "Shallow" underground workings UG-
290, UG-290b, UG-293, and UG-261.
Ames continued blast drilling of underground workings within Phase IVc at UG-267. Ames blasted
underground workings delineated by confirmation drilling at UG-267 on March Su' at 16:30.
Ames began placement of Cemented Rockfill (CR) at UG-242 by tapering the working, and placing 7
feet of CR in accordance with IFC Drawing 12, Detail 1.
(See Attachment A for approximate construction locations for atl Phase IV azeas.}
Field Monitoring and Testing Activities
Golder observed construction activities associated with Phase IV earthworks. All construction
materials and soil materials placed were verified as suitable, and construction methods were in
accordance with project specifications. Removal of oversized and deleterious material from all fill
azeas was observed. Golder conducted temperature measurements of fill material prior to placement.
No fill was placed until fill temperatures met the requirements of the specifications.
Golder observed placement of SF, SSF, and CR. These materials were placed in accordance with
• the drawings and specifications into excavated or open underground workings. Golder previously
obtained samples of SF, SSF, and CR for laboratory testing. Materials supplied met specifications.
Ground Engineering conducted field testing and sampling of CP concrete as per specifications, and
supplied passing 28-day strength results.
Golder observed and documented excavation and remediation activities associated with the Phase IV
underground working construction. Full time monitoring was given to excavation of underground
workings.
Golder observed and documented co~rmation drilling activities associated wish the Phase IV
construction. Full time monitoring was given to confirmation drilling of underground workings
including logging holes, mazking drill locations, surveying holes, and documenting underground
workings encountered.
Golder observed and tested placement of SLF at the LOB completing two in-situ density tests, three
depth verification tests, and verifying surface preparation. Soil Liner fill was placed in accordance
to the specification. Golder observed deployment of geomembrane documenting ambient air
temperature, panel dimensions, seaming, tie-in overlap, seam testing (trial seams, pressure, vacuum,
and destructive) and conducted the final walk-through. Geomembrane placed at the LOB met
specifications. Golder provided full time observation of DCF placement over the deployed LLDPE.
Golder verified DCF placement for material, placement technique, wrinkles, and thickness. DCF
placed met specifications.
ew~rva ae e~bza-hlarcre.doo Golder Associates Inc.
