Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 48 Page 2 003-2203
Ames did not perform any underground remediation activities associated with the Phase Na
construction during this reporting period.
PhaseIVb
Ames removed deleterious material (wood, frozen SF, oversized) and hauled this material to a
designated location in Upper Arequa Gulch or to the uncontrolled fill zone East of Phase Na/b.
Ames continued Structural Fill (SF) placement and compaction activities in the eastern portion of the
Phase Nb footprint at the temporary access road neaz the old highway crossing. Structural Fill
materials were placed in horizontal lifts typically not exceeding 2 feet in loose thickness. A Caterpillaz
CS563C roller provided compactive effort, while a Caterpillar water wagon provided moisture
conditioning when needed or required.
Ames resumed SF blast drilling in the Phase Nb azea neaz the existing LOB.
Ames performed excavation remediation activities of known underground working UG-494. This
working was observed and verified to be a "Deep Shaft" as defined in the drawings and will be
remediated accordingly.
Ames performed confirmatory drilling activities associated with the Phase Nb construction azea on
known underground workings UNK-12, EI Line 6, and UG-201.
Ames continued blast drilling of underground working within Phase IVb at UNK-12. Ames blasted
underground workings delineated by confirmation drilling at UNK-12 on February 28a' at 11:00.
Ames began placement of Cemented Rockfill (CR) at UG-217 by tapering the working and placing 7
feet of CR in accordance with IFC Drawing 12, Detail 1.
Ames resumed construction of the LOB by placing Soil Liner Fill (SLF) and Geomembrane. Ames
placed 1 foot of SLF and POLYFLEX deployed 80-mil single sided textured LLDPE gomembrane
over an azea of 7,583 sf. Geomembrane panel P-57 through P-61 were deployed, seamed, and tested by
POLYFLEX. Destructive seam samples DF-14 and DX-02 were removed and tested. Ames backfilled
approximately 135 feet of anchor trench and placed 2 feet of Drain Cover Fill (DCF) over the lined
azea.
Phase IVc
Ames used Structural Fill to backfill "Shallow" workings UG-290, UG-290b, UG-293, UG-295, UG-
295b, UG-449, and UG-450. Ames also remove oversized and deleterious material to a designated
location in Upper Arequa Gulch or to the uncontrolled fill zone East of Phase Na/b.
Ames performed excavation remediation activities for known underground workings UG-261, UG-290,
UG-295b, and UG-261. The workings were observed and verified to be "Shallow" or "Deep" as
defined in the drawings and will be remediated accordingly.
Phue IVe 48 FeL24-Merch9.doc Golder Associates lnc.
