Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 46 Page 2
Ames did not perform any confirmatory drilling activities associated with the Phase IVa construction
during this reporting period.
• Phase IVb
Ames removed deleterious material (wood, frozen SF) and hauled this material to a designated
location in Upper Arequa Gulch.
Ames continued Structural Fill (SF) placement and compaction activities in the western portion of the
Phase Nb footprint below UG-234a and above the old HWY 67 alignment. SF materials were placed
in horizontal lifts typically not exceeding 2 feet in loose thickness. A Caterpillaz CS563C roller
provided compactive effort, while a Caterpillaz water wagon provided moisture conditioning when
needed or required. SF was borrowed from the slope recontouring activities neaz the Alice Shaft (UG-
265) in Phase Nb. SF was also used to backfill "Shallow" workings UG-237, UG-298, UG-299, and
UG-300.
Ames performed excavation remediation activities of known underground workings UG-218b, UG-
237, UG-298, UG-299, UG-300, UG-305, UG-546, UG-548, and UG-549. The workings were
observed and verified to be "Shallow" or "Deep" as defined in the drawings and will be remediated
accordingly.
Ames continued placement of Select Structural Fill (SSF) into "Shallow" underground workings UG-
237, UG-298, UG-299, and UG-300.
Ames continued placement of Coazse Shaft Backfill (CSB) into "Deep" underground working UG-217
Phase Nc
Ames continued placement of SF in Phase IVc at the saddle berm. Ames placed SF borrowed from
slope recontouring in Phase Nc neaz the Minnehaha (UG-268), and between stations 12+00 through
18+00 of the Phase IVc perimeter access road. SF materials were placed in horizontal lifts typically
not exceeding 2 feet in loose thickness. A Caterpillaz CS563C roller provided compactive effort, while a
Caterpillaz water wagon provided moisture conditioning when needed or required.
Ames performed excavation remediation activities for known underground workings UG-262, UG-
267b, UG-267c, UG-278, UG-287, and UG-508. The workings were observed and verified to be
"Shallow" or "Deep" as defined in the drawings and will be remediated accordingly.
Ames continued placement of Coarse Shaft Backfill (CSB) into "Deep" underground workings UG-
262, UG-268, UG-282, and UG-297.
Ames performed confirmatory drilling activities associated with the Phase Nc construction area on
known underground workings UG-267, UG-268, UG-286, UG-297, UG-286, UG-289, UG-290, UNK-
1, UNK-8, UNK-9, and Un-named Tunnel 1.
Ames continued blast drilling of underground workings within Phase Nc at UG-269, UG-286, and

Phae IVe461an2]-Feb9.doc Golder Associates Inc.
