Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 46 Page 3 003-2203
UNK-9. Ames blasted underground workings delineated b~ confirmation drilling at UG-286 on
January 29a' at 16:30 and at UG-269 and UNK-9 on Febmary 6 at 16:30.
i (See Attachment A for approximate construction locations for all Phase IV azeas.)
Field Monitoring and Testing Activities
Golder observed construction activities associated with Phase IV earthworks. All construction
materials and soil materials were verified as suitable, and construction methods were in accordance
with project specifications. Removal of oversized and deleterious material from all fill areas was
observed. Golder conducted temperature measurements of fill material prior to placement. No fill
was placed until fill temperatures met the requirements of the specifications.
Golder observed cleazing and grubbing within the Phase )V area. All available topsoil was removed
and deleterious material hauled to Upper Arequa Gulch.
Golder observed construction of the 84-inch culvert at the south end of the Permanent Diversion
Channel. Golder observed that the material placed (CSP, Pipe Bedding Fill, and Structural Fill) met
the requirements of the specifications.
Golder observed placement of SF, SSF, and CSB. These materials were placed in accordance with
the drawings and specifications into excavated or open underground workings. Golder previously
obtained samples of SF, SSF, and CSB for laboratory testing. Materials supplied met specifications.
Ground Engineering conducted field testing and sampling of CP concrete as per specifications, and
• will supply strength results at the completion of 28-day testing.
Golder observed and documented excavation and remediation activities associated with the Phase N
underground working construction. Full time monitoring was given to excavation of underground
workings.
Golder observed and documented confirmation drilling activities associated with the Phase IV
construction. Full time monitoring was given to confirmation drilling of underground workings
including logging holes, mazking drill locations, surveying holes, and documenting underground
workings encountered.
Laboratory Test Results
Golder obtained QA samples SFa-09 and SFb-04 of Structural Fill being placed in Phase IVa and
Phase IVb. Test results will be presented upon completion of laboratory testing.
Golder conducted conformance sampling and testing of Tensaz UX1700HS geogrid delivered to site.
All lots sampled met project specifications and results are presented in Attachment B.
Golder began to conduct Conformance Testing of geomembrane being produced by POLYFLEX.
Test results on material produced to date indicate passing values with the exception of 80-mil
LLDPE role number PR-8-O1-0019-37 that failed to meet the minimum and average thickness
s
Phase Ne 46 Jv2]-Feb9.doc Golder Associates Inc.
