Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 45 Page 2
003-2203
I ~ Ames did not perform any confirmatory drilling activities associated with the Phase Na construction
during this reporting period.
Phase IVb
Ames performed clearing and grubbing of topsoil and removed trees neaz the temporary access road
and in the central portion of Phase IVb. Topsoil was piled locally and relocated to the permanent
topsoil stockpile above Phase IVc. Ames also removed deleterious material (wood, frozen SF) and
hauled this material to a designated location in Upper Arequa Gulch.
Ames continued Structural Fill (SF) placement and compaction activities in the western portion of the
Phase Nb footprint below UG-234a and above the old HWY 67 alignment. SF materials were placed
in horizontal lifts typically not exceeding 2 feet in loose thickness. A Caterpillaz CS563C roller
provided compactive effort, while a Caterpillar water wagon provided moisture conditioning when
needed or required. SF was bonowed from the slope recontouring activities near the 9640 road in
Phase Na and from Phase Nc. SF was also used to backfill "Shallow" workings UG-248, UG-249,
UG-250, UG-510, and UG-556.
Ames performed excavation remediation activities of known underground workings UG-510 and
UG-556. The workings were observed and verified to be "Shallow" or "Deep" as defined in the
drawings and will be remediated accordingly.
Ames continued placement of Select Structural Fill (SSF) into "Shallow" underground workings UG-
248, UG-249, and UG-250.
Ames began to place Concrete Plug concrete into "Deep Shafts" UG-202 and UG-251. Ames placed
three feet of concrete in accordance with IFC Drawing 12, detail 1.
Phase IVc
Ames continued placement of SF in Phase Nc at the saddle berm. Ames placed SF borrowed from
slope recontouring in Phase IVc neaz UG-269 and UG-281. SF materials were placed in horizontal
lifts typically not exceeding 2 feet in loose thickness. A Caterpillar CS563C roller provided compactive
effort, while a Caterpillar water wagon provided moisture conditioning when needed or required. SF
was also used to backfill "Shallow" workings UG-259, UG-259b-d, UG-283, UG-284, UG-285, and
UG-522.
Ames performed excavation remediation activities for known underground workings UG-224b, UG-
234d, UG-274, UG-275, UG-277b-d, UG-278, UG-280, UG-280b-e, UG-281, UG-283b, UG-284, UG-
285, UG-286, UG-503, and UG-508. The workings were observed and verified to be "Shallow" or
"Deep" as defined in the drawings and will be remediated accordingly.
Ames continued placement of Coarse Shaft Backfill (CSB) into "Deep" underground workings UG-
254, UG-256, and UG-258.

Phase lVea57sn U-26.doc Golder Associates Inc.
