Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 44 Page 2 003-2203
Ames continued to excavate for the construction of 84-inch CSP between stations 48+00 and 50+00.
Ames began placement of 84-inch CSP on January 9a', tying into the existing 84-inch CSP placed
during the HWY 67 realignment. Ames placed 65 feet of 84-inch CSP and bedded the pipe with
Pipe Bedding Fill (PBF) in accordance with the standard detail shown on IFC Drawing 15, detail 8.
Ames continued SF blast drilling in Phase Na at the 9640 access road station 7+00. Ames blasted
on December 20a' at 16:30.
Ames performed confirmatory drilling activities associated with the Phase IVa construction azea on
known underground working UG-545.
Phase IVb
Ames performed excavation remediation activities for known underground workings UG-200, UG-
248, UG-249, UG-250, and UG-546b. The workings were observed and verified to be "Shallow" or
"Deep" as defined in the drawings and will be remediated accordingly.
Ames began placement of Select Structural Fill (SSF) into "Shallow" underground workings UG-
209b, UG-210a, UG-210b, 211, and UG-213.
Ames performed cleazing and grubbing of topsoil and removed trees near the temporary access road
and in the eastem portion of Phase Nb. Topsoil was piled locally and relocated to the permanent
topsoil stockpile above Phase Nc. Ames also removed deleterious material (wood, pavement) and
hauled this material to a designated location in Upper Arequa Gulch.
s Ames resumed removal of old Highway 67 pavement between the Carlton Mill and the west edge of
Phase IVb, neazly completing pavement removal. Pavement was hauled to Upper Arequa Gulch.
Ames continued Structural Fill (SF) placement and compaction activities in the eastem and western
portion of the Phase Nb footprint. SF materials were placed in horizontal lifts typically not exceeding
2 feet in loose thickness. A Caterpillaz CS563C roller provided compactive effort, while a Caterpillar
water wagon provided moisture conditioning when needed or required. SF was borrowed from the
slope recontouring activities neaz the 9640 road in Phase Na and from Phase Nc. SF was also used to
backfill shallow working UG-209b.
Phase IVc
Ames performed excavation remediation activities for known underground workings UG-229, UG-257,
UG-258, UG-259, UG-259b, UG-259c, UG-259d, UG-274, UG-499, UG-501, UG-504, and UG-505.
The workings were observed and verified to be "Shallow" or "Deep" as defined in the drawings and
will be remediated accordingly.
Ames began placement of Coazse Shaft Backfill (CSB) into "Deep" underground workings UG-257,
UG-260, and UG-521.
Ames performed confirmatory drilling activities associated with the Phase Nc construction area on
rwe rv.auttw~~izeoo Golder Associates Inc.
